W: Good morning. Can I help you?
M: Good morning. I’d like to join the school volunteer project, but I’m not sure what I should do.
W: OK, don’t worry. Let me help you. What do you like doing?
M: I love writing stories.
W: Well, you must be good at telling stories. Am I right?
M: Yes, of course.
W: Then why not help us look after children on weekends?
M: That’s a good idea. I can tell them stories. I am sure children will love my stories and me.
W: I agree with you. Can you tell me your name and telephone number?
M: Oh, sorry. I nearly forgot. I am Jim Green. My telephone number is 8832765.
W: OK, I’ll call you when it is ready.

W: I’d like to reserve two tickets on Saturday, the 10th.
M: For which movie, madam?
W: Um…for Dark and Stormy Night, please.

W: Well, how about on the 11th?
M: Yes, madam, we do have tickets for that show.
W: Are there any seats left in the middle?
M: Yes, but they’re not next to each other. If you want them together, we still have seats in the front and at the back.

M: Amy, so, how are you doing?
W: Oh, hi, Sam. School is so crazy these days, and when I’m not at school, I’m at work.
M: Hey, listen. I’m getting together with Sara and Paul tonight, and a few of other friends are going to join us. And we’re going out to eat and then watch a movie. Why not come with us?
W: I’d love to, but I have to study for a test tomorrow.
M: Ah, come on. We’re planning on having dinner around 6:30 and then seeing a movie at 7:30.We should be home by 10:30…11:30 at the latest.
W: I…I don’t think I’d better. I haven’t been feeling well lately.
M: Yeah, because you study too much. Well, we’ll have a fun time. And it’s Sara’s birthday, too. And we’re throwing her a small birthday party after the movie. Come on. Best friends always stick together.
W: Oh. Okay.
M: Great. I’ll pick you up about 6:00.
W: Okay. See you then, but I have to be back by 10:30.
M: Ah,10:30… Midnight. It’s all the same. See you at 6:00.

W: Tyler, do you know of an easy way to the airport? I’m flying home for Christmas.
M: Why don’t you take the bus, Sylvia? That’s what I always do when I fly.
W: Okay, but I don’t know anything about the bus service here.
M: Well, let me ask you—have you ever heard of “Fast Pass”?
W: No, not until now. Is that a bus line?
M: Yes, it is. It will take you straight to your terminal at O’Hare.
W: That sounds like what I need. Do you know how much it costs?
M: The last time I took it, it was $30 one-way. Let me see if I have their card in my wallet. Yes, here it is. You should call 1-800-500-5500 to reserve a seat.
W: So, do I have to make a reservation?
M: No, you don’t have to, you know. But it’s better if you do. That way you can make sure you’ve got a seat. They’re pretty crowded at times, especially around holidays.
W: Uh, I think you said 1-800-500-5500, right? I’ll give them a call. Thanks a lot, Tyler.

I have just received a letter from my brother, Jim. He is in Australia. He has been there for six months. Jim is an engineer. He is working for a big firm and he has already visited a great number of different places there. He has just bought an Australian car and has gone to Alice Spring, a small town in the center of Australia. He will soon visit Darwin. From there, he will fly to Perth. My brother has never been abroad before, so he is finding this trip very exciting.
