W: Hold on. He is coming.
Text 2
M: I’d like to buy this…but I haven’t got enough cash with me. Do you take traveler’s checks?
W: Certainly, sir.
M: Oh, good. How much is that?
W: $30.
Text 3
W: Where are you from?
M: I’m English, but I’ve been living in the US and Canada for nine years.
Text 4
M: I heard that the bread is wonderful at that baker’s on Lake Drive. Do you know where that is?
W: If you follow your nose, it will lead you to the baker’s.
Text 5
W: Oh, there you are! Glad to see you again! Did you have a good flight?
M: Sure, I flew all the way direct from Seattle to London.
W: You must be very tired. Did you sleep at all on the plane?
M: No, not really. Sorry, could I use your bathroom now?
Text 6
W: Where’s Cecilia, Mark?
M: I’m not sure. She finishes school at 3.Maybe she went to Joyce’s. She knows she has to home before 5.
W: It’s 5:30 now.
M: Maybe she forgot her watch.
W: Well, someone has to wash the dishes. The kitchen’s a mess.
M: I can go to Joyce’s. I know her address.
W: That’s OK. We don’t need her. You can wash the dishes.
Text 7
W: That looks like the main entrance. Do we have to buy tickets?
M: No, I had several tickets sent to me. Here, take one each. Let’s have a look at the equipment. The exhibition is on the two floors, with two main halls on each floor.
W: Then what’s on the ground floor?
M: Radios, televisions, video equipment and home computers—all in Hall 1.Office equipment is in Hall 2.
W: How about the first floor?
M: Here we are. The communications equipment and large computer systems are upstairs. About every major computer company in the world is here, it seems.
W: Dr. Jackson, are there any companies here that you’ve dealt with before?
M: Oh, yes, several. We’ve had dealings with Cosmic Computers for some years, but we’re not satisfied with their after-sales service—they take a long time to deliver spare parts and charge more.

W: David, we shouldn’t sit here doing nothing.
M: Why not? It’s Saturday afternoon, isn’t it?
W: Yes, but there’s so much to do around the house.
M: It can wait.
W: We ought to finish washing down the kitchen walls and cupboards.
M: We can do that tomorrow. We don’t have to do it today.
W: All right. But we must do it tomorrow, because the painters are coming on Monday.
M: Yes. And that reminds me. I must do something about that leak under the kitchen sink.
W: That’s a good idea.
M: Talking about washing down the kitchen—where’s Bob?
W: He’s having lunch with Georgia.
M: What! Again?
W: He should be in soon.
M: He shouldn’t spend so much time with that girl.
W: You must be patient, David. Nineteen’s a very difficult age, you know.
M: Yes, I know. But he ought to be studying more.
Text 10
Very strong winds will bring rain to Scotland and most of northern England in the morning. These winds will die away during the afternoon to give a cold clear night and there may be ice on the roads in Scotland. The rest of England and Wales will have a dry day, and in London temperatures will be higher than normal at the time of year. The evening will be cold with fog in many places in Cardiff, but temperatures will not be low enough for ice to form.
Tomorrow will be a windy day with rain everywhere until around noon. In the afternoon the rain will be clear from the southwest, bringing fine weather to any parts by the evening and there may be some sun in London. But temperatures will be low and the winds may bring some snow anywhere in the north and west before morning.
