W: ⑩ Hey George, how did you stay in shape when the gyms were closed?
M: ⑪ I just did daily at-home workouts and using a fitness app. It was really convenient.

Text 9
W: Professor Johnson, ⑭ Could you please share your thoughts on building smart cities?
M: Thank you, Jane. ⑰ I’ve been looking forward to our interview for some time.
W: First, in what ways do you believe that smart cities will work for the development of human beings?
M: As a technological optimist, my research focuses on finding efficiencies in waste management and the implications for energy production, as well as ⑮ using AI and automation to release heavy traffic.
W: Great! Going beyond sustainability, do you believe smart cities will boost equality and tolerance?
M: I do, but those questions are a bit outside of my wheelhouse. Fortunately, there are some great minds dealing with them as we speak.
W: What about the claim that smart cities are data leakage waiting to happen?
M: They are not unreasonable concerns. ⑯ Our personal information can never be 100% secure.
But by harmonizing our system to work together effectively, we can provide greater security.
W: Thank you for accepting our interview, Professor Johnson!
Text 10
M: We all know humans love to talk. Just look at how much we use our phones! But why is socializing so important?
First, it improves our mental health. ⑱ Talking to people gives us an opportunity to hear our thought out loud. This gives us a sense of relief and allows us to get useful feedback from whom ever is listening. If youre feeling lonely, reach out to someone you trust and tell them how you feel. It’s actually the best cure.
Second, it makes us more successful. ⑲ Lots of successful business people credit their success to their ability to network and build relationships. So start attending more conferences, open a LinkedIn account, or invite someone you admire out to dinner and start picking their brain for ideas. These can all lead to a better career.
⑳ Finally, it expands our understanding of the world. Talking to people from different back grounds allows us to experience a world of knowledge that’s different from our own. Taking the time to see the world through someone else’s eyes allows us to encounter things we never knew existed.

One possible version:
Last week I participated in a fire safety drill organized by our school, which left me a deep impression.
We were having a maths class when suddenly the fire alarm rang. Under the guidance of our teacher, we immediately left the classroom. With my hands covering my mouth, I bent down a bit and ran downstairs quickly on our evacuation route. Finally we landed on the playground safely within a short time.
The drill not only raised our fire safety awareness but also offered a real scene in case of a fire, greatly improving our survival skills. I firmly believe that it will truly save lives in emergencies.

One possible version:
Soon my secret pen pal and I wrote letters every day. We share worries and happiness with each other. How was it even possible to be communica eagerly with someone I had never even seen face to face? My unknown friend was kind, humorous, and always inspired me. Almost everyone in my classes noticed a change in my attitude: rather than acting in low spirits, I was refreshed. Even Charlie said “You’re smiling a lot. It’s nice.” Finally we decided to take down the mask. On February 12th, I received an invitation to meet in the stadium after school.(89 词)
I waited for my pen pal in the stadium after school that day. Leaning against the post, I kept checking my watch, a mixed feeling of nervousness and excitement clouding my thought when a familiar figure emerged.“Mathew?”“Charlie?”We both laughed wildly.“I had a feeling it was you. I had never seen you smile as big as today.”Charlie said, his eyes twinkling with joy.“Hi, guy! Thank you for your encouragement.”I responded with my arm around his shoulder. We had a wonderful exchange and enjoyed each other’s company. From then on, we develop the most precious friendship. (89 词)
