Unit 8
Listening
Two astronauts were flying back to the Earth after a trip to the Moon. Suddenly, one of them said, “Oh no! The computer is taking us to Mars. We’re not going back home!” The other astronaut said, “I can’t stop the computer. It has been attacked by a virus. Let’s send an email to the control centre to ask for help.” But the email reached the Space Computer Club instead.
The people at the Space Computer Club were watching the news when they received the astronauts’ email. While they were helping the astronauts contact the control centre, they were also calling the Whizz-Kid for help. He is good at fighting computer viruses.
The Whizz-Kid received the call from the Space Computer Club, and he promised to write some virus-cleaning software in ten minutes. Nine minutes later, the Whizz-Kid created the software and sent it to the astronauts in the spaceship.
The two astronauts received the Whizz-Kid’s software. They started it and the computer worked again. The spaceship continued to fly back to the Earth.
