A judge in the NewYork says the hotel maid's lawsuit against Dominic Strauss Kan proceed. NPR's Jim Rolley reports the maid accused the former head of international monetary fund of sexual assault. Strauss Kan has argued that the suit should be dismissed because a diplomatic immunity. But the woman's lawyer has argued that immunity didn't apply because Strauss Kan was in NewYork on personal business, visiting his daughter. Strauss Kan was onced considered a leading candidate for president in France. But his career came to abrupt halt nearly a year ago in a Time Square hotel. Strauss Kan acknowledged having sex with the woman but denied that he forced himself on her, he initially faced criminal charges but prosecutors decided that woman in the case lacked credibility, because she had mispresented her background as well as some details about her encounter with Strauss Kan, James Rolley NPR news NewYork.
Union workers at caperpillar manufacturing plant in Joliet, Illinois are on strike. They hit the picklines earlier today after rejecting latest contract from management. About 800 workers from the plant are demanding a better pay and healthcare benefits.
