Quotation:  The phrase "without wax."  (Technically, it might not be considered a quotation; however, it is words and the meaning behind them, as is consistent with the theme of this entire website.  We call ourselves www.geilien.cn: A Harvest of Quotes for Word Lovers, and Louisa is definitely a word lover!)

Comments:  Louisa says, "I'm a language and linguistics freak, and "without wax" is a language riddle.  During the Renaissance, a marble sculptor who'd made a mistake would patch it up with wax.  After awhile, "without wax" came to signify anything flawless, pure or true.  In Spanish, "without wax" is "sin cera" - and that's how we get the word "sincere."  It's also the idea that I have nothing to make up for."
