Malcolm Turnbull’s Christmas message 2017

From my family to yours - ,Merry Christmas!

This is a wondrous time of year.,of celebration and reflection and we should all take the opportunity to reconnect, recharge and enjoy the holiday season.

Lucy and I are spending Christmas together with Daisy and James Alex and Ivonne and the grandchildren - Jack isla and Alice. I hope you and your family are getting together and enjoying the day celebrating Christmas in that Great Australian way. It could be having a barbecue, a beer ,going to church or playing a backyard Test Match with the kids. But whatever you're doing at Christmas this year - please remember those who need our love and support now more than any other time. Those who are homeless, those who are alone or lonely. and those for whom Christmas is not a joyous celebration.

Let's be there for each other. Let's go out of our way to help out a stranger. Let's do what we can to make this a special time of year for everyone. Remember too, all those Australians who keep us safe. Police, emergency services, our security agencies, our armed forces - all of whom service all year round all day long. But above all, let's reflect on what makes our country so great. Our rich tapestry of diversity, the way we respect each other, the way we look out for each other, for our family friends and neighbors. These are the values we should celebrate today.
