High-rises and LED screens at school don't make Chinese students feel more at ease, as a survey across the country shows that a lack of psychological care is upsetting the students, the China Youth Daily reported Wednesday.

The survey indicates that students' primary stress stems from all kinds of school examinations, followed by a lack of motivation and self-confidence, and a stressful relationship with their parents.

"There are 86 classes, 320 teachers and more than 3,000 students at school, but only one psychological counselor," said a headmaster at a middle school in Beijing.

Teachers also complain about the education mold. "The current education evaluates a student more on his academic marks, which partly causes their anxiety," a teacher said.

So after school, students feel happier? Wang Dengfeng, a researcher with Peking University, doesn't think so.

"It is the parents that cause their children's unhappiness. Many Chinese parents pass the responsibility of raising a child onto the grandparents' shoulders. It's not healthy for the whole family," Wang said.

A child in East China's Hangzhou said the happiest thing she can imagine was to go to the park with her parents on weekends.
