direct和directly有时可以互相换用，有人(British Council)认为两者在意思上没有区别，只是directly显得更为正式，direct没那么正式（Direct is used as an informal alternative to directly）:
The train goes direct from Beijing to Qingdao.
The train goes directly from Beijing to Qingdao.
I saved 300 Yuan by ordering my clothes direct from the factory.
I saved 300 Yuan by ordering my clothes directly from the factory.
在实际运用中,两者在意思上和用法上还是有一定的区别的。
Direct意思是：
1.“径直(in a straight line)”,如We flew direct to Paris.我们直飞巴黎。
2.“不通过中间人直接找某人（skip over intermediaries）”,如 He went direct to the president.(他直接去找董事长)。
Directly除了表达直接的意思外，可用来表示：
1.“一会儿”，“马上”，“不久”：
Directly after, they resumed the journey. （之后不久他们又继续赶路。）
2.有时还用作连词，表示“一……就”。如：
Directly I walked in the door I smelt smoke. 我一进门就闻到烟味。
在下面句子里，direct和directly都可以用，但在意思上存在一定的区别：
1. He flew direct to Paris. （用direct表示直飞巴黎，non-stop,没有中转;如果使用directly，则有可能指immediately，他立刻飞往了巴黎。）
2. I'll talk to him direct.(用'direct'表示面对面地直接和他谈，没有通过中间人，direct意即 'face-to-face and/or without intermediaries'.如果使用 'directly',意思就没有这么清晰，它即可以理解为'very soon',也有可能表达与direct相同的意思。)
在形容词或其他副词前，通常使用directly,如：The lighthouse was directly opposite the island.（灯塔正对着小岛）。
在绝大多数情况下，人们使用directly：
1. The needle on the compass is pointing directly north. （指南针上的指针正直接对着北方。）
2. You will damage your eyes if you look directly at the sun.（直接看着太阳会伤害你的眼睛。）
3. The recession led directly to a major depression. (经济衰退直接导致了大潇条。)
4. They had to leave directly. (他们不得不马上离开。)
