We're looking at the five most popular songs on the Billboard Magazine Hot 100 pop singles chart, for the week ending June 15, 2013.
Different week, same songs: yes, our Top 5 shuffles around a bit, but the titles don't change.
In fifth place, Florida Georgia Line and Nelly mark time with "Cruise" a triple-platinum remake featuring Nelly. That means the song has sold three million copies in the United States. Florida Georgia Line comes by its name honestly: Brian Kelley is from Ormond Beach, Florida, while Tyler Hubbard hails from Monroe, Georgia. And Nelly? He was born in Austin, Texas¡but grew up in St. Louis, Missouri.
Descending from second to fourth place are Pink and Nate Ruess of the band Fun with "Just Give Me A Reason." The song concerns a faltering love affair, and Pink sings from experience: five years ago, she briefly separated from her motocross racer husband, Carey Hart. Happily, they reconciled and have a two-year-old daughter together.
Up a slot to third place goes the dynamite team of Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams with "Get Lucky." The song also includes a musical giant from the 1980s-- it features co-writing and guitar work from Nile Rodgers. Nile led the popular 1970s disco band Chic, while also working with a host of superstars in the 1980s - the list includes Diana Ross, Madonna, David Bowie, Duran Duran, and Mick Jagger.
Also on the rise is Justin Timberlake - he's knocking at door in second place with "Mirrors," which has already hit number one in the United Kingdom. Speaking of the UK, Justin has announced a British tour in early 2014. In the meantime, UK fans can catch him next month at the Wireless Festival in London.
Our number one act seems like an unassuming rapper from Seattle - but Macklemore just made chart history. Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Ray Dalton enjoy a fifth week atop the Hot 100 chart with "Can't Hold Us." Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are the first duo to send their first two singles to number one on the Hot 100. They are also the first duo to accomplish this on Billboard's Pop Songs chart.
That's it for now, but things could all change next week - please join us in seven days for a new lineup
