A Special Trip 特殊的旅行

In high school, Terry Fox was a popular and hardworking student. 高中，泰瑞·福克斯是个受欢迎的勤奋的学生。

He loved sports. 他喜欢运动。

He played on the school basketball team. 他在学校篮球队玩。

When he was 18, Terry got cancer. 他十八岁时得了癌症。

The doctors had to take off his leg. 医生说要截肢。

Terry never gave up. He learned to walk and run with his new "leg". 泰瑞永不言弃。他学习走路和用新的“腿”跑步。

Terry saw so many people sick with cancer in the hospital. 泰瑞看到医院很多得了癌症的病人。

He wanted to ran across Canada to get money for cancer research. 他想跑步穿越加拿大，为癌症研究筹资。

On April 12th, 1980, Terry started a special trip across Canada. 1980年4月12日，泰瑞开始横穿加拿大之旅。

Every day he ran about 42 kilometres. 每天他跑大约42公里。

He ran on rainy days, windy days and hot sunny days. 无论严寒酷暑，风雨无阻。

He ran through small villages and big cities. 他跑过小山村和大城市。

Terry ran for 143 days. 泰瑞跑了143天。

It wasn't easy, but Terry kept running. 不简单，但是泰瑞坚持跑。

On September 1st, 1980, Terry felt very sick. 1980年9月1日，泰瑞觉得很不舒服。

His doctors said that he had to stop his trip. 医生说他必须停止旅途。

Terry was very sad. He wanted to keep running. 泰瑞非常伤心。他想坚持跑步。

The people of Canada were very sad, too. 加拿大人们也非常伤心。

They gave more and more money for cancer research. 他给癌症研究捐了越来越多的钱。

They hoped Terry would get better and would start to run again. 他们希望泰瑞能变得越来越好，然后重新开始跑步。

Sadly, Terry died on June 28th, 1981. 令人伤心的是，1981年6月28日他离世了。

He was 22 years old. 他22岁。

Every September, in many towns and cities in Canada, there is the Terry Fox Run. 每年9月，在加拿大许多城镇，都有泰瑞福克斯跑步日。

Hundreds of thousands of Canadians, young and old, run for Terry. 成千上万的加拿大人无论老幼都为泰瑞而跑。

They give money to find a cure for cancer. 他们捐助癌症治疗。

The people of Canada were very proud of Terry. 加拿大人民以泰瑞为荣。

They gave him Canada's highest award. 他们给他加拿大最高的奖项。
