A Special Pet一只特别的宠物

One day, Amy wanted to buy a pet. 一天，艾米想买一只宠物。

She didn't want a cat or a dog. 她不想要猫或者狗。

She didn't want a goldfish. 她不想要金鱼。

"I want a special pet," Amy thought. “我想要一只特别的宠物，”艾米想。

So she went to the pet shop.于是她去了宠物店。

"Can I help you?" “有什么能帮你的吗？”

asked the woman in the shop.商店里的女士问道。

"I want to buy a pet," said Amy.“我想买一只宠物，”艾米说。

"Here's a lovely kitten,"the woman said.“这里有一只可爱的猫咪，”那个女士说道。

"Thank you, but I don't want a kitten," said Amy.“谢谢你，但是我不想要猫咪。”艾米说。

"This is a very nice dog," the woman said.“这是一只非常漂亮的狗，”女士说道。

"I don't want a dog," said Amy.“我不想要一只狗。”艾米说。

"And what about this goldfish? “那这条金鱼呢？

It's very beautiful."它非常漂亮。”

"My brother's got a goldfish," said Amy. “我哥哥有一条金鱼，”艾米说。

"I want to buy a really special pet."“我想买一只非常特别的宠物。”

"Here's a special pet," said the woman.“这里有一只特别的宠物，”女士说。

"It's very beautiful", said Amy.“它非常漂亮，”艾米说。

"It's a parrot," said the woman. “它是一只鹦鹉，”女士说道，

"And it's very clever."“而且它非常聪明。”

"Look! “看！

It's got two strings on its feet," said Amy.它腿上有两条细绳，”艾米说。

"That's right," said the woman.“对的，”女士说道。

"Why?" Amy asked.“为什么？”艾米问。

"Well, pull this string and find out," “那么，拉这条绳子你就会知道了，”

the woman said.女士说道。

Amy pulled the string. 艾米拉了这条细绳。

"Hello!" said the parrot.“你好！”鹦鹉说道。

"Wow!" said Amy.“哇！”艾米说。

"Now pull the other string," the woman said.“现在拉另一条绳子，”女士说。

Amy pulled the other string. 艾米拉了拉另一条绳子。

"Goodbye," said the parrot.“再见，”鹦鹉说。

"That's great!" said Amy.“好极了！”艾米说。

"Do you want to buy the parrot?" asked the woman.“你想买这只鹦鹉吗？”女士问道。

"Oh yes!" said Amy. “哦是的！”艾米说。

"But what will happen when I pull both strings?"“可是当我拉两根绳子的时候会发生什么呢？”

she asked.她问道。

"I will fall off my perch, of course!" “我当然会从我的栖息之处上掉下来！”

said the parrot.鹦鹉说道。
