September is a lovely month for travelling in Britain and Europe. The summer crowds have gone, prices have fallen, the Mediterranean is at its warmest and, while temperatures have eased, it is still reliably sunny – a great time for a city or a beach break. Even in Britain, there is a good chance of decent weather. So our recommendations for this month are heavily weighted towards Europe and Britain, with a couple of suggestions for farther afield.
