Thank you for sending us your question! These are linkers that are commonly used in writing, particularly essays and articles.

Jiaying
是的。这三个搭配结构相似，但用法却不同。下面，我们就逐一分析，并通过例句来帮助大家区分它们的用法。

Let's look at 'in terms of'. This is used to refer to something specific, and is similar in meaning to 'in relation to' and 'regarding'.

Jiaying
“In terms of” 的意思是 “就…而言，从某个特定的方面来看”，在含义上与 “in relation to” 以及 “regarding” 相近。“In terms of” 可以用在句首或句中，但后面必须紧跟表示所指事物的名词或动词-ing 形式。

Beth
Yes. It's used at the beginning of an adverbial, so, when used, the sentence always needs to have a main clause as well as 'in terms of' plus a noun or -ing form.

Jiaying
没错，“in terms of” 用于句子的状语成分开头，因此它所在的句子中总有一个主句和一个 “in terms of + 名词或动词-ing” 的结构。请听两个例句。

Examples
This company is the leader of the fizzy drink sector in terms of brand recognition.

In terms of vitamin content, spinach is often cited as being the healthiest vegetable.

Here, the specific things being referred to are 'brand recognition' and 'vitamin content'.

'In light of' is similar to 'because of'.

Jiaying
Yes. “In light of” 的意思是 “鉴于；按照，根据”，类似于 “because of”，强调在提到其它事情时，应考虑 “in light of” 后面接的事情，有点像搭配 “bearing in mind（要记住）”。

And because of this, it's often followed by a specific situation or recent event that needs to be highlighted.

Jiaying
“In light of” 后常接一个需要特别关注的情况或最近发生的事件。来听两个例句。

Examples
Smoking was banned in public places in light of studies that showed health risks.
（鉴于研究显示在公共场所吸烟对健康有危害，因此禁止在公共场所吸烟。）

The companies are reviewing their policies in light of the current economic situation.
（这些公司正在根据当前的经济形势审核他们的政策规定。）

In both examples here, we could replace 'in light of' with 'because of'. However, note that both sentences relate to something that recently occurred.

Let's look at 'from the perspective of'. This is the same as 'in the opinion of' and is followed by a person or group.

“From the perspective of” 的意思是 “在（某人）看来，从（某人）的角度来看”，介词 “of” 后接个人或团体。它和 “in the opinion of” 是一样的。我们常说 “from the perspective of someone”，然后再说此人或团体对事情的看法。来听两个例句。

Examples
From the perspective of the employees, the new four-day working week should help work-life balance.
（在员工看来，每周四天的新工作制应该有助于在工作和生活中取得平衡。）

The survey was simple to complete, from the perspective of the students.
（从学生的角度来看，这项调查很容易填写。）

Here, we see the opinions or beliefs of the employees and students.

Jiaying
我们还可以用 “from someone's perspective” 来表示 “在某人看来”。比如，你可以在撰写学术作文或论文时使用搭配 “from my perspective（在我看来）”，来表达自己的观点。请听例句。

Example
From my perspective, the costs are too high.
